The will have two to three extra patrol officers on the road several days a week until Memorial Day to beef up their enforcement of motor vehicle violations and to look for people driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Waterford Police will have additional officers from 5 p.m. to 4 a.m. to target people driving under the influence and additional officers from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to target people driving without a seatbelt until Memorial Day. Speeding and other motor vehicle violations will also be strictly enforced, according to a police press release.
The DUI and Seatbelt campaigns are part of the Federal Highway Safety Program in accordance with the 2012 Fiscal Year Connecticut Highway Safety Strategic Plan, according to the release. Extra officers will be on the road two to three times a week, according to the release.
