Waterford Police Warn of Phone Scam

Waterford Police said the scam involves offering a "new medical card."

A press release from the Waterford Police Department:

The Waterford Police Department has taken a case on a possible phone scam. The telephone call came from (409) 574-1214 in regards to a "new medical card for senior citizens."

The caller was a "foreign sounding" female and requested the complainant's address, telephone number and Social Security number. The complainant provided no information and the caller hung up on him. The complainant stated he had no idea what a "new medical card" was.

The same type of call happened Tuesday to another senior. The Waterford Police Department asks that you ignore these type of calls and never give any personal information over the phone, unless you initiate the call.
