Waterford Police Officers Run in the Special Olympics Torch Run

Great job Waterford Police Department!

As they do every year, Waterford Police Officers participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Connecticut Special Olympics. This year they were joined by Waterford High School students who donated money for the ability to run in the torch run. The WHS students raised almost $700 to benefit the LETR/CSO!!, according to the Police Department's official Facebook page.

The event started ealry in the monrning in central Connecticut, and Waterford Officers and "our" Special Olympian Jeff received the torch from the Connecticut Department of Corrections Officers at the East Lyme Town line. WPD Officers ran to the New London town line and handed the torch off the members of the New London Police Department.

Special thanks to Officer Vanoverloop for organizing the event, Officers Anderson and Whitehead for helping, and Officers Matt Fedor, Nick Surdo, Erick Fredricks, and Eric Lewandoski, Sergeants Timothy Silva and Marc Balestracci and Records Secretary Dorrie Robinson for running in the event. Sergeant Silva brought his son Timothy to run with him, as he has done for several years - good job Timothy

Really special thanks to the Waterford High School students who participated, we are very proud of you!
