Waterford Police In Action—One Boater Rescued, Dozens of Kids Inspired

Waterford Police serve, protect, save and inspire, all in a day's work.

Waterford Police were busy yesterday inspiring kids and helping a stranded boater. The Waterford Police Facebook's postings tell the story.

"Waterford Police responded to a boater in distress in Long Island Sound. The boater was adrift with a failed engine and dying cell phone. Officers Whitehead and Fredricks responded on the police boat and towed the boater to safety."

The other event was less of an emergency but students from Oswegatchie School had the chance to peek inside police cruisers as part of the "Community Helpers" project sponsored by local schools. The program's aim is to teach Waterford kids about the different career paths they can choose if they want to help the community. Many thanks to Officer Lane and Sergeant Silva who gave the guided tour.
