A press release from Waterford Police Department

The Waterford Police Department is hiring Community Service Officers!

Community Service Officers (CSO) are part time employees appointed to supplement the Waterford Police force. CSOs assist the department carrying out its mission by fulfilling any role that does not require a weapon and law enforcement powers to accomplish—they are not police officers.

Duties include searching, fingerprinting, photographing, and caring for prisoners, data entry into the in-house computer, clerical work, including typing fingerprint cards, fingerprinting citizens for permits and employment purposes.

Other duties include basic building security, basic fire safety, reception of citizens in the police department lobby, and various duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor.

If you are interested in applying to be a Waterford Police Department Community Service Officer, please check the link and download the application under “Community Service Officer.” All applications are dealt with by the town of Waterford Human Resources office in the Waterford Town Hall, do not contact the Police Department directly.

This is an excellent introduction to law enforcement for those who may be considering a career in the field.
