Waterford Police Building Memorial to Honor its Officers

The Waterford Police Department is building a memorial that will feature the name of every police officer who has ever worked for the department.

A press release from the Waterford Police Department:

The Waterford Police Department will be adding to the memorial tree located at the front of the police department. Bricks have been purchased, by the Waterford Police Department and the Waterford Police union, for every officer that has worked at the Waterford Police Department. The front of the building, will have some landscaping done, as well as a brick walkway added that will feature the names of every Waterford police officer that has worked for the department since its inception in 1939. There will be an official dedication of the walkway and memorial on May 11th, 2013.

The walkway and memorial is dedicated to the men and women who have served the Waterford Community as Police Officers. We at the Waterford Police Department are Police Officers, members of the community, and are here 24-hours-a-day, 365-days-a-year to serve the citizens of Waterford, no matter what the weather or perils.

Every name on this pathway and the memorial near the tree has contributed to the legacy of the Waterford Police Department. These bricks represent officers that have worked here and retired, passed away, or moved on to other professions. They also represent those who are currently employed and continue the legacy, we appreciate their efforts.

The Waterford Police Department is selling memorial t-shirts to fund portions of the WPD memorial, and make a donation to the National Police Memorial in Washington, DC, dedicated to the memories of officers who have been killed in the line of duty. The shirts are either black or gray, and feature the WPD badge and the National Police Memorial logo combined.

If you would like to purchase a t-shirt, send an email to Officer Ted Krysztofiak at tkrysztofiak@waterfordct.org, or Sgt. Dana Seymour at dseymour@waterfordct.org. Please specify the color and size, and if you would like a short-or-long-sleeve t-shirt.

All purchases will be made through the “contributed gifts” fund at the Waterford Police Department. Prices are $15 per short-sleeve t-shirt ($17 for sizes 2XL and above), and $18 for a long-sleeve shirt ($20 for 2XL and above). All orders must be placed by April 20. Shirts will have to be picked up at the Waterford Police Department at 41 Avery Lane. We will judge the interest and possibly include mailing at a future time.
