Waterford PD: Help Us Find Kyle's Killer

Waterford police have been distributing flyers to Waterford and surrounding towns asking anyone who has any information about the shooting at Family Bowl in Waterford to please come forward.

The murder of Kyle Seidel just days before Christmas isn't something that anyone in Waterford is likely to forget. But Waterford Police are doing everything they can to keep it in the public eye.

Recently, signs such at the one shown here in the window of the gas station opposite Oswegatchie Fire House on Boston Post Road, have been popping up all over town.

The idea came from Det. John Davis, who set up an account in the family's name at GoFundMe.com, a web site that allows people to raise funds for various causes, as a way to pay for the flyers.

"He was thinking outside the box about how to put out a public information flyer," said Waterford Police Lt. David Burton. "If you let cases go cold, investigating them becomes very difficult. We want people talking about it. If someone knows something, we want them to call the tip line. It’s a way to keep it in the forefront."

So far about 2,000 flyers have been printed, with the first batch going out to various locations in Waterford, New London, and Montville. The plan is to spread out geographically from there, Burton said.

Burton said that whatever money they raise above and beyond the cost of the flyers will be donated to Kyle's widow, Kate, and the couple's three young children. "They’re without a husband and father," said Burton, "and it's very tough on the single mom now."

If you know anything that might help police solve this inexplicable murder, please call the tip line at (860) 437-8080. Tips can be made anonymously.
