Truck Takes Out Utility Pole And Power With It On Mullen Hill Road

The accident closed the road between Spithead and Stone Heights Drive in Waterford. CL&P is working on replacing the pole. No injuries were reported.

A truck struck a utility pole early this morning on Mullen Hill Road, knocking out power to homes in the vicinity and closing the road between Spithead and Stone Heights Drive in Waterford at around 7:30 a.m.. 

Waterford Fire Engine Co.1 responded to the accident, along with Waterford Police, Waterford Public Works, Connecticut Light & Power, and Lawrence + Memorial Paramedics. No injuries were reported, however.  

Connecticut Light & Power estimated that it could take up to 10 hours to replace the utility pole. As of 10:30 a.m., however, the utility company was reporting that just three CL&P customers in Waterford were without power.

According to Waterford Police, the affected section of Mullen Hill Road will remain closed until CL&P has completed the job.
