Police Claw for Clues on Missing Lobster

The case: Southington police are searching for a sculpture stolen from the Gulf Shrimp Company property.

The twist: The missing sculpture is the company's famous, 5.5-foot-tall lobster that normally stands in front of the business, according to police. The fiberglass lobster weighs 200 pounds and is worth around $2,000, police said.

DIY Fighting Ring at Home Depot 

The case: Police charged two East Hartford men with second-degree breach of peace at the Glastonbury Home Depot, according to police.

The twist: The men brawled because they were not receiving help from any of the Home Depot employees, police report.

Open House, Open Jewelry Box 

The case: Police charged a Hartford woman with first-degree larceny, police report.

The twist: According to police, the woman stole $26,249.92 in jewelry after attending a Glastonbury open house. An investigation showed that she and an accomplice also took more jewelry from a series of open houses across the state, police said.

Refill on Pepper Spray in Aisle Three

The case:  Police charged a man with attempt to commit first-degree assault, assault on a police officer, interfering with police, and second-degree breach of peace, police report.

The twist: The man was charged after getting into a brawl with a loss prevention officer in the New London Shop Rite, police report. The man entered the grocery store with his girlfriend, who had been banned from the business, police said. After leaving the store and then returning, a verbal argument ensued, and the accused chest bumped the loss prevention officer twice and swore at him, police said.

The situation escalated to a physical fight, according to police. A police officer attempted to handcuff the resisting suspect and used pepper spray to prevent the man from getting a hold of his weapon during the struggle, police report.

Police subdued the man and took him to L&M to treat the pepper spray effects, police report. The suspect eventually had some of his clothing also taken away in the holding cell due to wrapping his hand in a shirt and remaining in a "fighting stance" in the cell, police said.

The case: 
Police charged a Glastonbury couple with disorderly conduct after responding to a domestic dispute, police said.

The twist: One of the accused threw a sandwich at the other during the disagreement, according to police.
