Two Burglaries, One Larceny Reported in Waterford

It's not what you'd call a crime wave, but there was one burglary in Waterford last week.

Waterford Police Department is investigating a burglary reported on Oil Mill Road last week. Lt. David Burton, who describes the break-in as a "one off," said the property owner was not home at the time.

"We are still investigating that to find out exactly what was taken," Burton said.

A second burglary was reported yesterday at Indian Valley Drive. The call came into the police department at 6:15 p.m. According to the Waterford Police Crime Map, there was also a larceny (theft from a building) on Louise Street on May 31.

There have been rumors about a burglary on Butlertown Road but according to Burton, there were no burglaries reported there in May. A burglar alarm was activated in a home but it was a false alarm. Since 2000, there have been a total of eight burglaries on Butlertown Road (not counting vehicles).

Waterford police, however, would always advise residents to lock their homes, outbuildings, and vehicles as a precautionary measure.
