New London Police Seize Three Dirt Bikes During Reckless Driving Arrest

New London Police are cracking down on illegal dirt bike riders who have been tearing around the city.

New London Police have been on special patrols recently in an effort to put a stop to riders on dirt bikes who have been tearing around the city. Last night, their efforts paid off.

While on patrol in the Bates Woods area, which has become a popular spot with illegal dirt bike riders, New London Police say they saw several young men riding recklessly and without regard to the public's safety or their own.

Police were able to identify one of the young men who eluded them as Divon Green. Police arrested the 18-year-old at his home at 88 Williams Street, Apt. 2, in New London on October 29. Green is charged with reckless driving, driving under suspension, failure to obey a stop sign, failure to obey an officer's signal, and with riding a motorcycle without face protection.

Green was held on a $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on November 8.

Police are in the process of identifying the other riders and say additional arrests will be forthcoming. They also recovered three dirt bikes that were scattered in various locations. The motorcycles have been seized and impounded.
