Motorist Sent to Hospital After Niantic River Bridge Accident

Waterford Fire Engine Company No. 1 responded to a one-vehicle car accident at approximately 7:54 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at the Niantic River Bridge (Route 156).

One occupant in the car was unconscious and unresponsive. They were transported to the hospital, according to Waterford Fire Engine Company No. 1

The bridge was closed in both directions for a short time until the vehicle could be removed. The Connecticut Department of Transportation’s bridge crew was notified, for the purposes of inspection.
