Lyme Beefs Up DUI Patrols

Starting on Friday, August 24, State Police from Troop F will be on the lookout for drunk drivers

It's never a good idea to have one for the road but if you're driving through Lyme, you're more likely to get caught if you try it. The town recently received a Federal Highway Safety Program grant to help crack down on drunk driving.

Connecticut State Police Troop F in Westbrook applied for the grant to help pay for the increased DUI enforcement patrols. According to the town's web site, the grant covers about two-thirds of the total program cost.

The next roving DUI enforcement patrol is scheduled for Friday, August 24, but the patrols will continue through the month of September.

They don't have to go far--just at the bottom of Swan Ave.
