John Pellegrino, 55, of 138 Old Norwich Road has been identified by police as the man involved in a motorcycle accident Saturday night where he was ejected from his bike and transported to Hartford Hospital via Lifestar helicopter. Police released the name this morning after initially withholding it while they notified Pellegrino’s family.
Police said Pellegrino is still in serious condition.

Saturday a motorcyclist was transported to Hartford Hospital via Lifestar helicopter after the person was ejected from their bike at the intersection of Old Colchester Road and Old Norwich Road, according to police.
At 7:26 p.m., police received numerous 9-1-1 calls of a motorcycle accident at the Quaker Hill intersection. Police, fire and ambulance crews rushed to the scene, where they called in a Lifestar helicopter to transport the downed motorcyclist to Hartford Hospital, according to police.
An initial investigation by police showed that the motorcyclist was traveling north on Old Norwich Road, crossed the center line and struck the southbound lane curbing, according to police. The motorcyclist tried to recover, but was ejected from the bike, according to police.
The name of the motorcyclist was not released pending family notification. The person is being treated at Hartford Hospital for injuries.
Old Norwich Road was closed for several hours as police investigated the scene. The crash is still under investigation by the Waterford Police Department.
