Car Accident, Car Break-Ins Reported in Waterford

Local residents report that someone has been rifling through vehicles parked in their driveways. Nothing of value was taken but it's a good idea to lock your vehicle.

A roll over motor vehicle accident closed down the Boston Post Road at Fog Plain Road in Waterford early yesterday evening. No one was injured by Route 1 was closed to traffic for a couple of hours until police cleared the scene.

In other police news, a number of people have posted on the Waterford Police Department's Facebook page about recent car break-ins. A Crown Street resident said that someone rifled through the glove compartment and center console of his vehicle while it was parked in his driveway on August 22.

Another resident reported that the same thing happened to the four cars parked in her driveway on Phillips Street and to her parents' vehicles on Clifton Street. Both residents told police that nothing of significant value was taken. The Phillips Street resident said the thief left the GPS but took change and cigarette butts.

It's always a good idea to lock your car if you park it outside and, based on the recent reports of thieves breaking into sheds in the Fog Plain Road area in search of dirt bikes and ATVs, lock up any outbuildings too.
