Patch's Poll: Are You An Organ Donor?

Legislation hopes to increase awareness

Legislation introduced to this session of the General Assembly calls for the establishment of an advisory panel to research the ways to increase Connecticut's organ and tissue donation rates.

State Rep. Betsy Ritter, chairwoman of the Public Health Committee, Rep. James Albis of East Haven and Donate Life Connecticut met Wednesday to support the legislation, which aims to increase rates of organ and tissue donation in Connecticut, the House Democrats of Connecticut announced in a press release.

The proposal includes creating an Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness Fund, which would be supported by voluntary contributions, the press release says.

Are you an organ donor? Why or why not? Take our poll and add your thoughts in the comments.

My uncles life, my best friends life and so many more are improved by organ donation. Everyone should be one! As they say " you can't take it with ya!". Please check YES!

It's a gift that is so special, and Kimlyn is so right - I am a donor, I just wonder how much longer my parts will be worth anything!
