Monday, I went to my first boys basketball game at Waterford High School. And it was a classic, with the team , to advance to the Class M semifinals.
And while the play was impressive, particularly by uber-talented point guard Geary McLeod, what stuck out the most was the crowd. While other student sections might be as rabid, I have never seen a student fan section more hilariously organized than Lancer Nation (and I am a former member of the UConn men's basketball student section).
One of the first things you see when you walk into is a printed-out quote by The Day sports columnist Mike DiMauro proclaiming Lancer Nation the best student section in the ECC. I guess I finally saw what he was talking about, and for once, DiMauro was right.
