Vern A. Hunter, of Ft. Myers Beach, Fla., and Clinton, Conn., the devoted husband of the late Barbara Hancock Hunter, died March 23, 2014, at Hartford Hospital after a brief illness. The 82-year-old was surrounded by his loving family when he passed.
Mr. Hunter was the founder of Hunter's Ambulance.
Hunter's Ambulance maintains its administrative offices in Meriden, and has satellite offices in Berlin, Middletown and New London.
"Since 1963, Hunter's Ambulance Service has provided Central and Eastern Connecticut with unparalleled patient care and transportation services," the business states on its website.
"The members of IAFF Local 1148 would like to offer our condolences to the Hunter family after the passing of Hunter's Ambulance founder Vern Hunter," the Meriden Fire Local 1148 wrote Sunday on its Facebook page.
