NL County Home Prices Continue To Decline

Home sales in Connecticut are up in January, but not in New London County

 

Both New London County home sales and home prices were down in January, The Day reports, despite Connecticut's sales being the highest since January 2008.

According to the article, which cites statistics from The Warren Group, median prices of single-family homes declined by 5.5 percent in New London County in January and by 12.5 percent across the state.

Single-family home sales in New London County are down 2.8 percent, though the state saw an increase of 4.5 percent as compared to January 2011, the article said.

According to the article, Timothy M. Warren Jr. of The Warren Group is hopeful for the future of the real estate market.

"Sales in Connecticut have been weak in recent months, so it's promising to see a strong start to the year," Warren said in the article, which cited a statement. "The mild winter will only help boost the spring selling season."
