Doing Last Minute Shopping? Here's What's Open, What's Closed Over Christmas in Waterford
Some stores are staying open for extended hours on Christmas Eve, but many are closing early and with the exception of a few convenience stores, most everything is closed on Christmas Day.
Happy Holidays! It's official, the holidays are now upon us. Here's a look at what's open and what's closed in Waterford December 24 and 25.
- Waterford Schools are on winter break today through January 1.
- Waterford Public Library is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Christmas Eve but is closed Christmas Day.
- Waterford Town Hall and all municipal offices are closed Christmas Day. There are no meetings on the schedule for this week.
- There will be no programs at Waterford Community Center this week and the center will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
- The U.S. Postal Service will deliver the mail as usual on December 24, but the Waterford Post Office will close at noon and will be closed Christmas Day.
- All Town, State and Federal government offices will be closed Christmas Day. Many will also be closing early on Christmas Eve.
I confess, I'm one of those crazy people who does all my Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve. If you've got last minute gifts to get or holiday food shopping to do, most stores at the mall will close around 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve, although some, including Macy's, will be staying open until midnight to accommodate panicked holiday shoppers.
Conversely, there are a few stores, including Wal Mart, Stop & Shop, and Dunkin' Donuts that are typically open every day of the year, some 24 hours, that will be closed on Christmas Day. Here's a list of store hours thoughtfully provided by the Waterford Police Department.
