At 13, Charles Anderson is young to be tackling an Eagle Scout project but he's already up and running with it and hoping for your help.
He's holding a can drive from 8 a.m. to noon in the Friendship School parking lot on August 24. His goal is to collect bottle and cans to raise money for New London's Safe Futures, a project that benefits abused children.
"My project is to collect bottles and cans to refund them for money," he writes. "After collecting the revenue from that, as well as donations of goods and money, I buy backpacks, blankets, coloring books, crayons, pens, journals, and tooth care items. All of these things make up a survival pack for the children that enter the emergency shelter. The only thing I need to make my project a complete success is to buy 50 fleece blankets and 25 more backpacks."
