Police News Dominates Last Week; Waterford Week Begins This Week

1.     The Week That Was: The week was dominated by police news.

First off, and the three suspects remain at large. Three masked men broke into the house, restrained a man and a woman in the house, and beat up another man. They then stole items from the house, according to police. This crime was not a random act, according to police.

Thursday, for about an hour. While one of the cars was pushed off the road and looked to be crushed, nobody suffered life-threatening injuries, police said.

2.     This Week In Weather: This week could be wet and stormy, with highs in the high 70s.

Today should be cloudy but dry; but then the storms start. Thunderstorms are predicted for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday should be cloudy but dry, and Friday should be the nicest day of the week, with full sun. Saturday, the rains come back, as showers are expected the entire day.

3.     This Week In Government: Well, the week starts with the never-ending Seaside battle, as the planning and zoning commission meets Monday night to again discuss proposed .


The board of finance has a fairly routine meeting Wednesday, with an approval for a new boiler at Goshen Fire Department being the biggest item on the agenda.

4.     This Week In Schools: The school building committee meets again at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and will meet every other week for the next five weeks.

The group is currently producing a , and has to approve a variety of work to add to the renovation. This week, the largest item on the agenda is a $125,000 order to change all the benches and lockers in the field house locker rooms.

5.     This Week In Events: This week is the start of Waterford Week, the greatest week of them all. Here are the events for the week (which ironically lasts 11 days):

Wednesday, Aug. 10, 7 p.m.: Variety Show at Clark Lane Middle School.

Thursday, Aug. 11, 7 p.m.: Community sing-along on the Quaker Hill Green

Friday, Aug. 12, 7 p.m.: Waterford Police versus Waterford Firefighters on Veteran’s Field

Saturday, Aug. 13, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Kids Fun Fair (ends at 2 p.m.), Waterford Week Flea Market (ends at 3 p.m.) and Pup-stravaganza (ends at 4 p.m.); all at the Waterford Dog Park
