Happy Thanksgiving! And A Look At All The News This Week.

1. The Week That Was: In the newsiest news of the week, Monday night the This budget year, largely because of personnel costs, which increased over $2.5 million in one year. This new contract with the teachers, which represents by far the largest personnel group, will increase the overall budget by $130,000, according to District predictions. Bottom line, unless health insurance costs continue to balloon at exponential rates, the chance of this budget year being anywhere near as painful as last budget year, where over 20 positions were eliminated and programs were cut, is unlikely. 

The most well read story of the week Camerlin had planned to build a new bar at the property, In a poll on that article, Waterford residents said they would like to see that bar get built in town.

On Monday, we ran a story about Calvin Dedrick, He was later diagnosed with a rare blood disease, and despite many doctors saying he should be dead, is on his way to recovery. A fundraiser is being held for Dedrick on Nov. 26.

2. This Week In Weather: A week that starts sunny, then gets rainy, then gets sunny again, just in time for Thanksgiving.

Today should be windy with a high of 58. Monday should be cloudy, with a high of 53, and then Tuesday and Wednesday it is expected to rain, with highs of 51 and 45 respectively. Thursday, Friday and Saturday are all expected to be sunny, with highs of 45, 45 and 49.

3. This Week In Schools: Because of Thanksgiving, it is a shortened week in Waterford Public Schools. Wednesday is a half-day, and students get Thursday and Friday off. Other than that, it is a pretty routine two-and-a-half days at Waterford Public Schools.

4. This Week In Events: Besides Thanksgiving, the biggest event this week is Black Friday (which ). Patch will have a full preview of Black Friday Thursday, with all the places to shop and all the crazy deals, as Waterford is clearly the hot spot of shopping for the entire region.

Also, it is worth mentioning that Saturday is Small Business Saturday. Granted, Waterford has far more big box stores than small businesses, but it is an encouragement to shop at the locally-owned places.

5. This Week In Government: A short week in government as well, as Town Hall is closed Thursday and Friday.
