Ten Places That Are Open On Christmas Day

A guide to ten local stores, restaurants and entertainment venues open on Christmas Day in the Waterford area.

Did Santa drink all your milk? Want to surf the Web while drinking a strong cup of java? Or do you need a back-up dinner plan?

Well you’re in luck. While most restaurants, stores and attractions are closed on the 25 of December a few places are open. Here are 10 spots where you can pick up a forgotten item, unwind, or eat Christmas dinner with all the trimmings:

Regal Cinemas: For some watching a movie on Christmas Day is a tradition, or maybe you just need a break from the family. Either way there will likely be no lines, no crowds and less noise. Regal Cinemas Stonington 10 has showtimes from 2:45 to 10 p.m., and Regal Cinemas Waterford 9 has showtimes from noon to 10:20 p.m.

Walgreens: The pharmacy is closed, but the Waterford store is open 24 hours so if you need last-minute stocking stuffers head on over.

CVS: If Santa drank all your milk, CVS in Mystic will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Bartleby's Café: For those who need their morning jolt of caffeine and don’t have the ability to make that latte, cappuccino, or other specialty coffee drink at home, Bartleby’s Café in downtown Mystic will open at 7 a.m. on Christmas Day and stay open as long as there is business.

Comix at Foxwoods Resort & Casino: You unwrapped the gifts, cooked and ate the food and now there is a ton of clean-up waiting for you. Let it wait, if you just need a good laugh the Comix Christmas Show begins at 8 p.m. and features comedians Pat Oates, John Romanoff and Marty Caproni.

Johnny's Peking Tokyo: If you're just don’t want to cook, Johnny’s Peking Tokyo in Mystic, serving Chinese and Japanese cuisine, will be open from noon until 10 p.m.

Ocean House: If lobster cognac bisque, crab risotto, seared scallops, and a dessert of cherries and white chocolate ice cream sound like the perfect way to spend your Christmas evening the Ocean House’s Seasons is the place for you. The restaurant is offering two menus of four courses from 5:30 to 8 p.m. for dinner on Christmas Day.

Starbucks: If you just can't go one day without that peppermint mocha, or gingerbread latte you'll have to schlep to East Lyme, Conn. Open from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. it's the only Starbucks in the area open on Christmas Day.

Wide World of Bagels: If you wake up craving an everything bagel with cream cheese or you brunt the French toast don’t worry, Wide World of Bagels in Mystic is open from 5 a.m. to noon.
