In the last few weeks not one but two African penguin chicks hatched at the Mystic Aquarium.
One penguin chick hatched on Feb. 1, 2013 and currently weighs 696 grams and another penguin chick hatched on Feb. 10, 2013 and weighs 281 grams. In six months the aquarium will be able to determine the genders of the chicks and then each chick will receive a name.
