News from the Middle East dominates today’s headlines.

President Barack Obama today declared the end of the Iraq war and announced plans to bring all U.S. troops home by the end of the year.  The prospect of having their loved ones home for the holidays is welcome news to families with members stationed in Iraq.

Today’s international news is dominated by one story: Libya’s ousted leader Moammar Gadhafi is dead. The longtime dictator was captured and killed by rebel forces, which had succeeded in taking over the government earlier this year. For the most part, Libyans rejoiced at the news.
