An Update On The Cohanzie Fire Company?

  1. Expect a sunny and cold day today. There should be a high of 33, with winds around 10 mph, and then it should drop down to 17 tonight, according to the National Weather Service.
  2. School is back in session after an abbreviated two-day February break. There is a good chance your child will have a substitute today, however, as many teachers planned non-refundable vacations for the week. The school has enough subs to make it through, although they are really encouraging teachers to not miss work, Superintendent Jerome Belair said.
  3. The board of fire commissioners meets tonight at 7 p.m. in the public safety complex. This is the first time the board has met since Tony Macrino, chief of Cohanzie Fire Department, was from entering the firehouse or going on any fire calls. Patch will attend to try to get an update on Macrino’s status.
  4. Story time runs at the Waterford Public Library today at 10 and 10:30 a.m. Also at the library, from 7 to 8 p.m., the teen writing club is meeting. If any teen would like to have an opportunity to get published, contact me at paul.petrone@patch.com.
  5. On this date in 1998, Osama bin Laden declares jihad against all Jews and Crusaders (Crusaders = Europeans and the United States). Also on this date in 2010, unknown criminals pour more than 2.5 million liters of diesel oil into the Lambro River in Italy, causing an environmental disaster.
