Daily Five: "Rosie O'Donnell" Band Leader Coming to Waterford

2. Waterford’s Eugene O’Neill Theater Center has tabbed the former leader of the band on “The Rosie O’Donnell Show” to be its new artistic director of the theater’s Cabaret and Performance Conference.

The theater named John McDaniel, who led the band on “The Rosie O’Donnell Show” for six years and won a Grammy for his work on the 1999 revival of “Annie Get Your Gun,” has been named the head of the conference, according to variety.com.

The Cabaret and Performance Conference, which is held at the O’Neill, will run from July 31st to August 10th in 2013. The conference oversees a summer development and performance program on the center’s campus, according to variety.com.

3. On Waterford school district’s website, and on each school website, the administration has put on a link for school violence talking points for parents.

There, there are links to the National Association of School Psychologists, the American Red Cross, the American School Counselor Association and other organizations that wrote articles on how parents and guardians can talk to their children about violence. The move was prompted by the horrific shooting in Newtown.

4. Tonight tonight, the Waterford Ethics Commission meets at 7:30 in the Waterford Police Department meeting room. The meeting is open to the public.
