The Speedbowl has been in severe financial distress since 2009, when owner Terry Eames filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. However, at the beginning of this year  a New London court accepted a debt reorganization plan submitted by the Waterford Speedbowl, according to the Hartford Courant. This allowed the track to stay open this year, according to the Courant.

3. Former Waterford Superintendent and Waterford resident Randall Collins, , is back in the news again, this time on the Groton Patch.

This month, Groton put its superintendent, Paul Kadri, On Monday, telling them how the board should go about hiring an interim superintendent and what they should look for. It was also reported that Collins is a candidate for the job.
