Janice Wray, of East Greenwich, suffered a broken neck and internal bleeding in the accident, However, her lungs and breathing capacity are improving, and friends and family members continue to pray for Wray, according to the website.

3. A big shout out to Amy Barczak, who was valedictorian of Waterford High School’s class of 1992.

Barczak now works for Massachusetts General Hospital. Recently, Discover Magazine, a national publication, featured her and her work researching tuberculosis in an online article. Often people like Barczak go unnoticed, but they are heroes who ultimately save lives. Good work.

4. While most government offices reopen today, Waterford’s public schools do not. All students are off this week for April break.  

5. On this date in 1965, the Astrodome opens, and the first indoor baseball game was played. When the dome opened, it was nicknamed the “Eighth Wonder of the World.”
