2. At the Oct. 17 meeting of the , Margaret Ormond resigned her position as co-chairwoman. Yvette Savoy will take over as the new co-chairwoman of the committee, sharing the position with Robin Perkins.

Melissa Yuchniuk has since been promoted to secretary. Ormond did not return a Wednesday afternoon call.

Also, this Saturday the group is sponsoring a fundraiser at Renegade Sports Center called . All money raised from the event will go to fund a new animal shelter. 

3. The high school pool will probably open in November, Superintendent Jerome Belair said. The pool has been closed as it was renovated over the summer.

Meanwhile, swim classes will probably not start until January, Recreation and Parks Director Brian Flaherty said. Senior Swim might be possible on the weekends earlier than that, although everything still has to be worked out, Flaherty said.

4. Tonight, the Board of Education meets at 7 in Town Hall. The first presentation on the agenda is by Waterford High School science teacher Todd Kane, as the school recently received a $10,000 grant from Dominion. The grant will be used to build a wind turbine, so students can learn about , according to a Dominion press release.
