2. Teddy Childers, 57, of Quaker Hill appeared in New London Superior Court Tuesday following his arrest for first-degree possession of child pornography. Childers was without a lawyer, so Judge Patrick Clifford put in a not-guilty plea for Childers until he could find one.

Childers said he has no money and cannot afford a lawyer, and was hoping his family could get him one. However his father, who was in the back of the court room, said he could not afford one either. Clifford said Childers would have to get a public defender.

Childers is in jail after failing to meet his $100,000 bond. Childers said he lost 30 percent of his hearing in jail, and said he had a very difficult time hearing Clifford.

3. At their July 12th meeting, the Harbor Management Commission approved a request by Jane Adams to put in a recycling container for fishing lines near .

Adams is planning to acquire the container from DEEP or supply the container herself, will be responsible for emptying the container every week and will handle all maintenance of the container. Adams has also requested to put similar recycling containers at Mago Point and at Cini Memorial Park in Niantic, according to the commission's meeting minutes.
