Daily Five: 5.11 Percent Tax Increase Debated Tonight

2. Tonight, the Board of Finance will take final action on the town’s proposed

The budget, as of now, would raise taxes around 5.11 percent, according to Finance Director Rudie Beers. The budget would increase the tax rate 0.96 mills, from its current level of 18.79 mills to 19.75 mills for next year, although that number could still change if the value of the grand list changes, according to Beers.

The Board of Finance can still cut the proposal tonight. The board is expected to take final action on the spending plan tonight, and then it will be forwarded to the Representative Town Meeting for final approval.

The meeting is at 7 p.m. inside Town Hall, and is open to the public.

3. At their March 20th meeting, the Utility Commission voted to unanimously approve a request by the Charter Oak Credit Union to extend the town’s sewer line along Route 85 to Industrial Drive, according to meeting minutes.

4. The Waterford Soccer Club is sponsoring on June 11 at

The tournament costs $135 per person, and starts at 9:30 a.m. It includes coffee and donuts, 18 holes of golf with cart, four-man scramble, prizes, raffle, a full-course meal and drinks.
