2. Some really good news for Lucky the Dog.
tied to a tree near the Humane Society in Quaker Hill, where he had a serious skin allergy from fleas, to the point he had scratched most of the hair off the lower part of his body. Lucky was taken in by Waterford-East Lyme Animal Control Officer Robert Yuchniuk, who received donations to get the medical help Lucky desperately needed.
Well, things have improved even more for the resilient dog, as on Wednesday Yuchniuk announced on his Facebook page that Lucky had been adopted by a family that drove two hours to get him. So great news for the family, Lucky and for all the people who donated to Lucky’s medical care.
3. At their last meeting on August 27th, the Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a waiver to allow Hendels Inc to put a larger than allowed sign up at 26 Norwich Road.
Hendels is proposing to build a Henny Penny gas station at 26 Norwich Road, and wanted to put in a sign that was 48 square-feet to advertise the price of gasoline at the site. The regulations only allow for a 20 square-foot sign at the site, but the commission agreed to allow the larger sign.
4. Today, the New London Area Food Pantry
The pantry is always in need of food, so if there is something you could give, it would be very much appreciated. The pantry accepts donations on Mondays from 2 to 4 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon.
