Controversial Subdivision Reviewed Tonight, And More

Five Things To Know For Thursday, March 10, 2011

  1. Rain is expected all day and into tomorrow, according to the National Weather Service. The temperature should be consistent, with a high of 42 and a low of just 41 tonight, according to the service.
  2. The conservation commission meets tonight at 7 p.m. Normally, this wouldn’t attract much attention, except this time an application to install a at 15 Laurel Crest Drive will be reviewed. Current Laurel Crest Drive residents have strongly opposed the subdivision because of concerns about traffic, so it’s likely that they will be there tonight to voice their frustration.
  3. Some news at Waterford High: Anybody interested in joining the outdoor track team should see one of the coaches this week. Also, anybody interested in joining the baseball team must have their forms to Coach by March 18. CAPT tests will continue this morning.
  4. It’s not too late to sign up for Clark Lane Middle School’s trivia night Friday. Registration is $40 for a team, with a team comprising two adults and four children. The event is held in the cafeteria and runs from 6 to 8 p.m.
  5. On this date in 2008, The New York Times reveals that New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer had patronized a prostitute, quickly leading to the end of his political career. Also, the CIA and FBI’s Number One most-wanted man turns 54 today (more on that in the trivia).

Yesterday’s Answer: Charlie Sheen said, “I’m tired of pretending I’m not a rock star from Mars.” That was probably the most normal thing he has said in the past three weeks. I still think it is all a publicity stunt.
