The Waterford Community Center will be open until Saturday at noon to all residents for showers, and to charge electronic devices and medical equipment, according to a town press release.

Residents can also charged medical equipment up at Waterford Youth Services until 4 today, according to the release. The town will continue to hand out water, ice and ready-to-eat meals at the public works building today until 7, and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to the release.

The Waterford Public Library also has a charging station open for the public, and wireless Internet and computers, Library Director Rosyln Rubinstein said. The library is open until 5:30 today, and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Power Update

As of noon today, 32 percent of the town was without power, First Selectman Dan Steward said. That number could be as low as 10 percent by the end of the day, he said.

Crews are working on Braman Road and Route 32 and other areas in Quaker Hill today, he said. Smaller roads will be started today or Saturday, he said.

Steward said Connecticut Light & Power said power would be restored to everybody by midnight Sunday, although the first selectman remained skeptical.
