Waterford High School Fencing team competes at East Lyme Tournament

Saturday Dec. 8, 2012. Thirteen members of the Waterford High School Fencing Team began its 2012 season at the annual East Lyme Winter Fencing Invitational. The tournament brought fifteen schools from around Connecticut for competitions in boys foil & epee as well as girls foil & epee.

Several members of the Waterford fencing team had a good day, Nicolette Fardon finished 6th in girls foil. Andrew Frascarelli finished 13th in epee advancing to the 3rd round of direct eliminations and Patrick Whitehead, boys foil finished 14th in a large field of 77 competitors.

“The East Lyme tournament is a great opportunity to get our team back into a fencing mindset after being off since last year”, says Waterford Coach Mason, “It gives us a perspective of what needs to be improved upon for the upcoming ECC season”. “I’m quite happy with the performance of all the team members who competed. The competition was incredibly skilled and tough, giving us a difficult challenge.”
