Wings, Jerseys, and Beer

The preseason has finally come to an end! Which means the regular season kicks off tonight! New Orleans Saints play the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers will surely put on a good game. Tune in somewhere at 8:30 p.m.

The Sport's Bar in Willimantic is throwing a NFL Opening Party. The first 100 people will be given T-shirts. Specials include 50¢ well drinks and $1 Natural Ice pitchers. Stash's and Smokey's will surely be announcing drink specials soon.

Friday, September 9

Discounted Drafts

Tony Marshall Band will rock you at Chaser's in Norwich. There will be a $5 cover but draft ales will be $1-off from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. The band is known for their rock and pop sound, performing known hits from the 70's to today!

 

Saturday, September 10

Latin Lovin'

Marc Anthony is performing at Mohegan Sun Arena. Tickets are between about $60 to $100. Anthony was awarded the Grammy for Best Latin Performance in 1998. is also a partial owner of the NFL's Miami Dolphins. The singer's singles include “I Need to Know” and “You Sang to Me”. He more recently worked with Pitbull on his single, “Rain Over Me” which is currently #36 on the Billboard Top 100.

Ledyard Fair

From 9 am to 11 pm find some time to walk around the fair grounds in beautiful Ledyard. Livestock all day including horses, sheep, and cows with a horse pull at 11a .m. Enter the pie eating contest at 5pm if your feeling up to the challenge. Waterford's own Veronica Ballestrini and Jay Dempsey and the Highway Call will be performing at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. A ticket is $12 but is good for all three days of the fair.

 

Sunday, September 11

Hungry for Mystic

The Mystic Chamber of Commerce are inviting you to have a little “Taste of Mystic”. Admission is free. Over 30 restaurant vendors, live music, kids activities. Expect to see belly dancers, police K-9 dogs, bagpipers, karate. Some of the restaurants participating: Flanagan's, Black Sheep, Mr. G's, Daniel Packer Inn, Shrine, Voodoo Grill, and Mystic Pizza. Friday 5:00p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Saturday 11:00 a.m. To 9:30 p.m. and Sunday 11a.m. to 5 p.m. For more info, please see Mysticchamber.org or ATasteofMystic.com

9/11 Memorial

Since you'll be in Mystic, get there before 1:30 p.m and head to Cottrell Street. A Memorial Parade honoring those affected by September 11 will be crowding the streets.

 

Monday, September 12

Be Patriotic!

The Miami Dolphins are hosting the first game of the season with the Patriots. Stock up on beer early or check it out at your favorite local sports bar at 7 p.m. It'll be interesting to see what Bill Bellichick and Mike Nolan pull this year! After the game, look to the sky - a Full Moon occurs tonight. It is also known as the Harvest Moon.
