Steady Increase in Connecticut Gas Prices Beginning to Slow

The average price of regular gas in Connecticut is $3.96 per gallon, an increase of 1.1 cents since last week. Want to know where the lowest gas prices are in East Haven? Check out our commute section!

Regularly increasing gas prices in Connecticut and the country are easing up on their climb this week, as the price per gallon in the state rose only 1.1 cents to an average of $3.96 per gallon.

But the good news only goes so far. GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan cautions drivers that prices probably won't be dropping anytime soon.

"GasBuddy data showed the national average rising for 32 consecutive days, starting January 20 at $3.265/gal, and ending February 21 at $3.733/gal. The tide has now turned, and the national average has dropped two days straight," DeHaan said. "This is certainly excellent news for disillusioned motorists, but I would caution them not to get overly thrilled as prices may linger near these levels for some time," he added.

According to GasBuddy.com, the average price of gas in Connecticut was 4.2 cents lower one year ago and is now nearly 30 cents higher since last month.

Nationally, the average gas price rose to $3.72. The average was 42 cents lower one month ago, according to GasBuddy.com
