Many years ago, a bunch of white men in wigs decided paying taxes was no fun. So they dumped tea into Boston Harbor and told the people who wanted to tax them cool things like, "Give me liberty, or give me death."
They were our heros.
But apparently, over the years, that spirit has dwindled. Now, Americans can spend more than half of their income on taxes. And on top of that, we now pay somebody to pay our taxes!
But, our spirit is not completely gone. Every God-fearing, beef-loving American does what he can to spend as little in taxes possible. Everybody has a guy, and everybody's guy is better than your guy. Your guy is good? Well my guy is better, you think, as you laugh all the way to the audit.
So, the question this week is who is your (Waterford) guy? Does he work for one of the big guys, the H & R Blocks of the world? Does he have his own practice, a self-made guy? Are you your own guy? Is your guy a girl?
