The New London Country Club will be renamed Great Neck Country Club, and will remain private, said in a video message.
Mortimer released a video message on YouTube encouraging people to come to an information meeting at 2 p.m. at the club on Saturday. Mortimer said he would introduce the head professional, the head superintendent and the head food and beverage director for the club at the meeting.
Mortimer said the club would be open for the 2012 season. At the Saturday meeting, he said he would go over the rates for the 2012 season, and said there will be no initiation fees.
"Overall, we are really looking forward to providing affordable, private golf with all the amenities," Mortimer said.
