Dime Bank has sold the New London Country Club to the trust of David and Ann Mortimer, both Waterford residents, for $2.8 million, according to The Day.

The Mortimers intend to keep the a private course, according to The Day. he was considering having the town buy the property.

Well, I feel bad that Waterford didn't buy it but glad that somebody did and intend to keep the course open and it remains open space. However, it didn't work as a private club in the past, may not work as a private club in the future. I suppose 149 acres for 2.8 million would be profitable when subdivided into a housing development? Ya think!

A properly run private golf course is a very viable business even in this economy, that being said I think the location of NLCC is ideal for a high end public or semi-private club. There is a distinct lack of quality golf courses in this area and it could be a gold mine.
