Millstone Electrical Workers Hope to Unionize

A majority of the workforce signed a petition to request unionization.

It may surprise you to hear that Millstone does not have a collective bargaining unit but that may change soon.

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) has asked federal labor officials to create 450-person union, according to a business and economic blog written by Dan Harr of the Hartford Courant.

The article says that Millstone workers covered under the petition include operations employees, skilled trades, maintenance, testing technicians and others- 25 job classifications at both reactor units that are still active.”

According to the article, workers are not so much disputing the pay at Millstone but they are concerned about job security and benefits. The vote could take place this summer.
