Helicopter to Strings Lines in Waterford until April 9th

A CL&P helicopter will be stringing high-voltage power lines for the next two weeks in Waterford.

A press release from Connecticut Light & Power:

Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) will be using a helicopter to complete work on new high-voltage transmission lines in Waterford. Use of the helicopter reduces the amount of time needed to complete the work compared to conventional, ground-based cable-pulling methods.

The helicopter crew is scheduled to start on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at a location near Parkway North and move south to Millstone Station by Tuesday, April 9, 2013, weather permitting.  The flights will be intermittent, lasting just a few hours, occurring sometime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The transmission project in Waterford is designed to strengthen the region’s power grid and improve reliability of the lines.
