Gales Ferry McDonald's Closed After Raw Sewage Found In Restaurant

Store has since reopened after sewage backs up into the restaurant.

The Ledge Light Health District closed down the McDonald's in Gales Ferry for about 15 hours after sewage backed up into the restaurant, according to Ledge Light Senior Sanitarian Ryan McCammon.

Ledge Light heard of the sewage back-up Thursday afternoon, and had to close down the restaurant for health reasons, McCammon said. What happened was the line to the restaurant’s septic system got clogged, and sewage began to back up into the restaurant, he said.

McCammon said about a half-inch of liquid backed-up into a spot in the kitchen. The line was unclogged, and the store was cleaned and then reopened to the public today, he said.
