We here at Patch love food. A lot. In fact, last year we had to write a column about how much we love food, after it began to clump around our face.
So we decided to start a new column that will run every Thursday at 5 p.m. called "Dish of the Week", which points out great local dishes. We are not restricted to Waterford, as you can tell by our first pick, but instead to the greater Waterford-area (whatever that means).
Our goal here is not to pick them all ourselves, but instead to hear what you have to say. If you have a dish that should be honored, feel free to put it in the comments below.
This first week’s pick though is all us. And we start with one of our favorites, Hanafin’s Guinness stew.
Most pubs have pub food, which is good and everything, but tastes the same wherever you go. Hanafin’s in New London is different, as it serves its own mix of traditional Irish foods (along with the standard pub fare).
Our favorite is the Guinness stew. Hanafin’s menu described it as, “Hanafin’s famous beef stew served over buttery mashed potatoes.”
We really only have one letter to describe it: mmmmmmm.
Do you have a suggestion for next week’s “Dish of the Week”? Write it in the comments below!
