Crystal Mall Will Keep The Crystal

Mall Will Keep Chandelier, Although The Use Remains Unknown

Well, it appears the chandelier will stay in the Crystal Mall after all. In what capacity remains a mystery.

Patch heard from the planning department that the chandelier, originally slated to be removed as part of the , will stay. Mall Manager Karen Tarantino confirmed that in a statement released though a Boston public relations firm.

“We are incorporating the chandelier into the design elements,” Tarantino said.

Simon Malls, which owns the Crystal Mall, originally said the chandelier was fake and not made of true Waterford Crystal from Ireland. Later, the original designer of the , saying the chandelier was very real, and very expensive.

The mall later backed off their original claim. In 1985, a massive ceremony was held with thousands of people in audience, including both the first selectman of Waterford and the mayor of Waterford, Ireland, when the chandelier was first revealed to the public.
