CL&P's Helicopter Will Be In Waterford This Week

Work will be done this week in Waterford by helicopter.

A press release from Connecticut Light & Power:

Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) Will be using a helicopter to help string new high-voltage transmission lines in Waterford this week. Use of the helicopter will minimize impacts to the environment and reduce the amount of time needed to complete the wire-stringing process as compared to conventional ground-based cable pulling methods.

The helicopter crew is scheduled to begin work today. While the typical flight will last just a few hours, helicopter activity will occur sometime between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. today through Saturday.

This work is being performed on a four-mile section of an existing CL&P transmission right-of-way between Millstone Nuclear Power Station and I-95 in Waterford.

This right-of-way crosses remote rural areas as well as environmentally sensitive areas near Boston Post Road, Cross Road and Rope Ferry Road. The helicopter will significantly reduce the impact of work in this unique area.

The project is designed to strengthen the region’s power grid and meet mandatory reliability standards.

Customers with questions or concerns related to this work may call CL&P’s Transmission Information Line at 1-800-793-2202.
