Carelot Owners: We Are Not Under Investigation By The FBI

Larry and Holly Bevilacqua sent out a letter today to their customers after their Waterford home was searched by the FBI and the Waterford Police Department Wednesday.

At 5 a.m. on Wednesday, the home of Larry and Holly Bevilacqua - owners of the daycare business Carelot Children's Center - was searched by the Waterford Police Department and the FBI.

The search was reported in the Patch and The Day. And after seeing "horrible rumors" regarding the reason for the search on social media, the Bevilacquas sent out an email today to Carelot families and staff to dispel those rumors.

"Due to the sensitive nature of the investigation we are not able to disclose any specific information," the letter read. "What we can say is that we are not under investigation and the investigation does not have anything to do with Carelot Children’s Center or its owners.  We are working very closely with both the FBI and Waterford Police Department to deal with the investigation and give them any help they may need."

The Bevilacquas opened Carelot Children's Center in 1998 and now it has locations throughout eastern Connecticut, including several locations attached to elementary schools, including ones in Waterford and New London. In their letter, the duo said the investigation does not involve Carelot.

"Please focus on the facts only and not the rumors that are being put out there on social media," the letter read. "The facts are that the home was searched, no arrests have been made as a result of the search, and the investigation does not involve Carelot Children’s Center or its owners."

The Full Letter

Dear Carelot Families and Staff,

We are writing to you to set your minds at ease in regards to the news that our home was searched by the FBI in conjunction with an ongoing investigation.

We are trying to give you all the facts and hopefully dispel all the horrible rumors that are out there.  Due to the sensitive nature of the investigation we are not able to disclose any specific information.  What we can say is that we are not under investigation and the investigation does not have anything to do with Carelot Children’s Center or its owners.  We are working very closely with both the FBI and Waterford Police Department to deal with the investigation and give them any help they may need.

Please focus on the facts only and not the rumors that are being put out there on social media.  The facts are that the home was searched, no arrests have been made as a result of the search, and the investigation does not involve Carelot Children’s Center or its owners.

Sincerely,

Larry and Holly Bevilacqua
