Repel Mosquitos Naturally

This crazy New England weather brought some much needed rain to Southeastern CT creating a new worry for your outdoor space; Mosquitos.

We have a natural solution to this pending pesky problem.
Simply include some of these herbs and plants as part of your outdoor landscape to repel mosquitos naturally!

Rosemary
Thriving best in full sunlight in well-draining soil, rosemary is easy to grow, needing very little water.  This herb can grow year-round too.  Keep it outside during the warm months and bring it inside during colder months.  It's also a tasty addition to any meal.

Mint
Mint is a very hardy plant that grows fast inside and out. You can pick mint leaves and rub them on your skin as a mosquito repellent, or just include the plants in your landscape.  As a bonus, mint is an easy snack or addition to a refreshing drink.

Marigolds
Marigolds are great companion plants that make a beneficial garden border, needing little maintenance.  While most plants can be rubbed on your skin to help repel mosquitoes, you should avoid this with marigolds.

Catnip
Loved by kitties, but loathed by mosquitoes, catnip is a great plant to help keep those pesky little biters away. Plant these babies in containers or hanging baskets as they have a tendency to invade your landscape a bit.  Catnip is safe to rub on your skin, just crush the leaves a bit prior to use.

Happy Memorial Day from everyone here at Becky's Farm & Garden.
